As the election deadline closes in upon us, I would like to remind all of your readers of the importance of each vote. A democracy like ours only works when all the community participates. Each individual, joined by the next person is part of a link that makes for a strong and healthy community.
One can take their ballot to the Clerk’s office on 4th Street and Edison or put a stamp on it and mail it to them. If you do not know who to vote for, talk to someone you respect and make a decision, or leave that space blank.
I would like take this opportunity to recommend to the voters Jan Vigil for the Council Person at Large.
Both of his opponents have a good record as public servants in the past, and while I am truly grateful to them, I am excited about the possibility of a new, young and intelligent person serving in public office. I think that youth brings energy and new perspectives to a community. We need that! I need that!
While Jan is not a native of Alamosa he has chosen to make our community his home. His heart and energy is with our community. As an ASU student, Jan contributed a lot to Alamosa through service projects he directed or participated in. Jan joined civic and church groups in Alamosa. This is where I first met him and why I asked him to be part of my team when I ran for office last year. During that time we shared lot of ideas and dreams for the community both for the County as well as the City of Alamosa.
I know Jan Vigil on the City Council and the County would be able to dialogue frankly and work creatively for the good of Alamosa. I vote for Jan, pronounced “YON”, Vigil.
Alamosa County Commissioner
