Leo P. Candelaria, age 74, a resident of Belen, born in Valencia, NM, on May 20, 1939, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Belen. He was a loving and generous father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. His passions in life were his family, dogs, outdoors and farming. In 1962, he moved his family to Colorado’s San Luis Valley, where he spent 38 years before returning to New Mexico in 2000 to be closer to family.
He will be remembered for his work ethic, generosity and willingness to help others as well as his devotion to his many pets throughout his life.
Leo was preceded in death by his father, Gregorio; mother, Rosalia; and brothers, Manuel and Herman.
He is survived by his children, Corina and husband Abel Romero, Cecilia and fiancé Steve, Rebecca and fiancé Lucas, and Victor and wife Kim; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Rafael and wife Beatrice; sisters, Audelia, and Lucy and husband Ramon; and many loving nephews and nieces.
