Edgar Daniel Decker, Jr. 55

MESA, Ariz. - Edgar Daniel Decker, Jr. of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at his residence. Ed was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on November 18, 1957 to Edgar Daniel Decker, Sr., and Wanda L. Decker. He was the third of seven children.

Ed was known as “Eddie” while growing up and was raised in La Jara and graduated from Centauri High School in 1976. As a youth he was involved in music and played the drums and bass guitar. He moved to Arizona where he attended Arizona Automotive Institute. He worked in the automotive field and was an accomplished mechanic. He had a love of flying and obtained his small plane operator license. He enjoyed spending time with his family and he had a love for his pets. He also was in a band for a short time in Arizona. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his sense of humor and fun-loving free spirit and a love of life.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Cheryl (Crandall) Decker, daughter Christy Lynn (Rick) Zandlo of Phoenix, AZ, sons Edgar Daniel Decker, III, and Justin James Decker of Mesa, AZ; parents: Dan (Loretta) Decker of Eckert, CO, Wanda Decker of La Jara, CO; siblings: Ken (Karen) Decker of Athens, AL, Ron (Sue) Decker of Montrose, CO, Kevin (Chris) Decker of Arvada, CO, Nancy (Mark) Gilleland of Manassa, CO, Eric (Tara) Decker of Alamosa, CO, and Cameron (Jaime) Decker of La Jara, CO. Ed is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation was selected and a memorial service will be held in Mesa, Arizona, on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Citrus Heights Stake Center 2549 N. 32nd Street, Mesa, Arizona 85213 at 12:00pm (Noon). A memorial service will be held Saturday August 10, 2013 at 3:00pm at the LDS Church in La Jara, CO. Interment of ashes will be at the Sanford Cemetery at a later date.
