Monte Vista resident Tito Franklin, 65, died June 24, 2013 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center.
Tito was born in Blanca, Colorado the son of Alfonso and Bessie Grant Franklin. He married Evelyn A. Chavez in March of 1969.
Tito served in the United States Army and earned the National Defense Service Medal. He worked for many years in Agriculture.
Tito loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He had a knack for working on cars. Tito spent a great deal of his time supporting his grandchildren, and loved all of them dearly.
He is survived by his children Amy (Ruben) Luna, Emory Franklin and Kevin Chavez all of Monte Vista; his brothers and sisters William (Betty) Franklin and Eloy (Rose) Franklin both of Pueblo, Ralph (Susie) Franklin of Grand Junction, Connie DeHerrera and Betty (Bernie) Gonzalez both of Montrose, CO; his grandchildren Keisha Garcia, Chassidy Sloan, Nevin Franklin, Rochelle Luna, Terrel Luna, and Emberlee Franklin; his great-grandchildren Dayzah Luna, Dominic Garcia, Destrella Garcia, Diamond Marquez and Davien Marquez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
His parents, his wife, his brothers Henry, Floyd, Alfonso Jr. and Eddie Franklin; and his sister Annie Gallegos preceded him in death.
A Recitation of the Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Rogers Family Mortuary in Monte Vista. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29th at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. Interment will follow services in the Homelake Veterans Cemetery.
