DENVER—Alamosa High School volleyball senior Annette McMichael and Center High School volleyball senior Alexa Lobato have been named as receipts of the IBM Hero of the Week awards. Both athletes were announced and recognized at the Week 8 Denver Broncos contest with the New Orleans Saints.
IBM, 850 KOA and the Denver Broncos have teamed with the Colorado High School Activities Association to recognize activity/athletic participants, coaches, administrators, officials and volunteers that promote the educational value of interscholastic participation. Four to six winners are selected each week during the Denver Bronco season. Winners are recognized on various IBM promotional spots on 850 KOA. All winners have been invited to a reception at INVESCO hosted by IBM and 850 KOA as a “Thank you” for their contribution.
McMichael, who was named as the Week 6 winner, was nominated by her volleyball coach and Alamosa High School Dean of Students, Amy Ortega due to her 3.77 GPA, leadership, athletic skills and character. According to Ortega, she has already enlisted with the Army and will begin serving our country in June.
