Gualberto (Kool) Acosta 60 of Monte Vista, CO died April 30,2013. He was born on July 12, 1952 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Tarcila Salazar Acosta and Cirilo Acosta. He had many nicknames- Gilbert, Albert, Gualve, Kool and el “Gordo.”
He was not intimidated by hard work. There was no job he wouldn’t attempt. He was quite the jack of many trades, from carpenter, mechanic, cook, farmer, and his favorite- butcher. He always had to have hi “chivito.”
He is survived by his wife Maria F. Hernandez of Monte Vista- daughters, Tammy Perea of Texas, Angelina (Gerado) Rodriguez, Gail S. (Francisco) Ortiz, Stephanie (Miguel) Hernanadez, Melissa and Jaqueline Acosta all of Monte Vista.
Sisters: Carmen (Abelino-deceased) Porras of Texas, Celia Acosta of Monte Vista, Maria Isabel (Arturo) Flores of Texas, Francis (Alonso) Heredia of Kansas, Olga (Cosme) Javalera of Monte Vista.
Brothers: Ramon (Lisa) Acosta, Irineo (Julie) Acosta, both of Ojinaga Chihuahua, Mexico, JosePaz Acosta of Juarez, Mexico, Jorge Acosta of Kansas, and Mario Acosta of New Mexico.
As well as twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild, with numerous nieces and nephews, sister in-laws- Elizabeth Acosta of New Mexico, Gloria Acosta and Eva Silva of Monte Vista.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Macario Acosta, Felix Acosta and Manuel Acosta, as well as with his daughter Josette Montoya.
His passion was music, he could be heard beating out a song or whistling. His voice was heard before you saw him. Now he is singing to the Lord.
Services were held May 2 at River of Life Church in Alamosa, CO at 1 p.m. Interment followed immediately at the Monte Vista Cemetery.
