ALAMOSA—Waverly resident Kathryn H. Wilson-Gates, 68, died October 21, 2012 at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa. She was born to Hugh C. and Dorothy E. Dorris Wilson on June 30, 1944.
Kathryn was a graduate of Alamosa High School and attended Adams State College where she received her masters degree in counseling. She was a student teacher in the Alamosa Schools. Later she was a teacher and counselor for Sierra Grande Schools. Kathryn was a member of the Valley Christian Fellowship in Monte Vista.
She loved country life and was active in 4-H as a leader. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathryn is survived by her children Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Lindley-Loe (Ralph Loe), John Ray Kingsley, Kimberly Kay Essary (Mark Bustos), Carol Lee (Alan Colvin), Maynard (Theresa) Gates, Jr. and Deborah Allen, her grandchildren Aftin Marie (Seth Gillespie), Kyle Grant Slingerland, Kayla Justine Bonadies (Paul LeCours), Marc Vincent Bonadies, Natalie Sue Williams (Shane McKibben), Randy Joe (Shelly) Rogers, Austin Lane Essary, Danielle Amanda (Edward Mondragon), Patrick Brady (Brooke) Colvin, Alisha Mae, Sylvia and Indiana Gates, sister Dorris Aileen Wilson, 13 great-grandchildren as well as extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Maynard Gates and brother, George Albert Wilson
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the River of Life Assembly of God Church in Alamosa. Interment will be held in the Alamosa Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to the Buddy Wilson Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home office.
