Monte Vista Resident Virginia Marie Silva, 66, passed away on February 18, 2018.

Virginia was born on January 11, 1952 in Del Norte Colorado, the daughter of Jose B Martinez and Manuelita Manzanarez Martinez. She graduated from Center High School in 1971. She married John Silva on September 22, 1973. Virginia enjoyed cooking, being outdoors and fishing. Her hobbies were coloring books puzzles and crosswords. She was a diehard Denver Broncos fan and wasn’t afraid to excuse family and friends from the room for cheering for an opposing team. Virginia loved to spend as much time as she could with family and her grandchildren. She was a kind and outgoing person to all and will be missed dearly.

Virginia is survived by her husband John Silva of Monte Vista, CO; her children Veronica M. Silva of Del Norte, CO, Monica L, Silva of Monte Vista, CO, John P. Silva of Del Norte, CO; brothers Fred Martinez of Center, CO, Gilbert (Gloria) Martinez of Alamosa, CO, David Martinez of Denver, CO; sisters Rosalie Avila of Delta, CO, Margaret Òcana of Albuquerque, NM, Beatrice (Donald) Atencio of Monte Vista, CO, Lucille (Gary) Garcia of Center, CO; 3 grandchildren Cipriano Carrillo III, Kamayla Carrillo, Christopher Smith; 3 great grand-children Bryson Craig, Landen Bucholtz, Aric Bucholtz

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Jose B Martinez and Manuelita Manzanarez Martinez; brothers Joe Martinez, Art Martinez; sister Flora Grimaldo.

Visitation and viewing will be held on Thursday February 22, 2018 from 10:00 AM- 4:00 PM at Strohmayer’s Funeral Home 205 South Broadway Monte Vista Colorado.

Rosary will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Del Norte.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM.

Interment will follow at the Del Norte Cemetery.
