Delfino Anthony Armenta, 58, was born in Alamosa, Colo., on Aug. 6, 1966.  He was born to Delfino E. Armenta and Mary Evelyn Tapia.  

Ernest J. Martinez, or “Ernie” as most knew him, was born March 28, 1948 in Alamosa, Colorado and died on February 4, 2025.  He was proceeded in death by his parents, Mike and Rebecca Martinez and his siblings, Eileen Gallegos and Tino.   

Timothy Phil Garcia, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and talented tradesman, passed away peacefully on Feb. 2, 2025, at the age of 54. Born on Feb. 11, 1970, in Del Norte, Colo., Timothy was deeply loved and proud to be a part of his close-knit family, the son of Feliberto and Sedelia Garcia.

Helen Marie Sanchez, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Jan. 28, 2025, at the age of 89. 

Charlene Elizabeth Ameel, 78, beloved and deep-rooted member of the Creede community, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 28, 2025. Her multi-faceted involvement and love have been vital to Creede’s ultimate well-being and have stretched across generations. Her passing leaves a void that will be hard to fill. 

Efrain Gomez, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Feb. 5, 2025, in Center, Colo. Born on Feb. 20, 1937, in Michoacan, Mexico, Efrain was a proud member of the Hispanic community, embracing his roots with love and passion throughout his life. 

John Charos, 73, affectionately known as Leroy to his family and friends, passed away on Dec. 24, 2024, after a long health battle. He passed away under the compassionate care of his Hospice team in Albuquerque, N.M. 

Joe Medina, a beloved rancher, father, and friend, peacefully passed away on January 31, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on August 31, 1931, in Costilla County, Colo., Joe dedicated his life to the land he adored and the family he cherished. 

Florence Rosebell Pacheco was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She entered the gates of heaven on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at age 77. 

Augustin Alex Padilla, a lifelong resident of San Luis, Colo., passed away peacefully on Jan. 27, 2025, in Colorado Springs, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in San Luis, Colo., on June 23, 1929. 

Dustin Richard Wingate passed away on Jan. 28, in La Jara, Colo. Dustin was born on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 1970, in Findlay, Ohio, to Richard and Deborah Wingate. He graduated from Alamosa High School and went to The Construction School in Albuquerque, N.M. He was a plumber, by trade. He married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Caldwell in 1990. 

Gloria Frances Douberly Chavez Gilliam passed on peacefully in the care of the Intermountain Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, Colo., on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, surrounded by her family. On the day before her passing, her children Mary, Amy, Robert, Brigid, and Ben threw her an early Valentine's party at her hospice suite. They delighted her with singing, dancing, and sharing family memories. Her last words before she slipped into a coma that evening were the words “I Love You” to her oldest son, Ben. 

Fred Christen Holmes Jr. was born in the spring of 1938 in Pueblo, Colo., to Fred Sr. and Josephine Holmes.  He grew up on the family farm in San Acacio with his siblings. After graduating from Centennial Union High School in 1956, he returned to the family farm and ultimately became its third-generation steward. After raising sheep in the early years, he transitioned to alfalfa and grain. 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margie A. Garcia, cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend who left us on Jan. 25, 2025, at the age of 89. Margie was born on Sept. 30, 1935, in Mogote, Colo., to Cristobal and Eloyda Ruybal. She was the 3rd child born into this family of 9 children.  

Longtime Alamosa resident Frank Alfonso Mestas, 86, passed away on Jan. 23, 2025, at San Luis Care Center in Alamosa. He was born on April 7, 1938, in Los Cerritos, Colo., to Jose Adolfo and Rosita Mestas. 

Sanford resident Raymond Keith Crowther, known affectionately as Keith to his friends and family, passed away on Jan. 28, 2025, at his home in Sanford, Colo. Born on Feb. 9, 1952, in Alamosa, Colo., to Raymond Q. and Verla (Bagwell) Crowther, Keith's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and community. Keith was married to Lorrie on Aug. 19, 1980, in Elko, Nev., and they enjoyed 44 years together. 

Marcella "Martha" Lourdes Salazar, 83, from Alamosa, Colorado, passed away on January 18, 2025 at the Evergreen Nursing Home. She was born on January 25, 1941 to Mrs. Reyes Archuleta-Salazar …

Cole Nessa Foster passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 8, 2025, after enjoying 87 years of life. He was born on Labor Day, Sept. 6, 1937, in Ames, Iowa, to Glenn and Ethel (Nessa) Foster.

Jane Trogdon passed away at 8:25 p.m., Jan. 22, 2025, in hospice care at MacKenzie Place. Born Jan. 7, 1943, at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver, Jane grew up in the San Luis Valley, graduated from Alamosa HS Class of 1961, earned her BA at Louisiana State University and a Master’s in Counseling.
