Verna Veronice Maes, 65

Verna Veronice Maes passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado.  She was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her passing.

Verna was born on May 15, 1952, in Monte Vista, CO to Isidro and Ophilia Martinez.

Verna later attended Sargent Schools before she moved from Monte Vista in 1966 before moving to Brighton, CO, where she graduated high school in 1970.

On April 24, 1970, Verna married Loren Maes. Together they had 3 daughters, Maggie, Molly and Teresa.
Verna spent 23 years in communications with the original Mountain Bell, which later became AT&T and US West.  She later retired from Factual Data at Loveland, CO.

Verna loved her friends and family, spending time with her grandchildren, reading books, watching her Soaps, spoiling the family dog Sammy, and attending Colorado Rockies Spring training with her husband.

Verna is survived by her husband, Loren Maes; brothers, Thomas Martinez and Jim Martinez; daughters, Maggie Maes, Molly Adams and Teresa Maes; two grandchildren, Jasmine Maes and Christian Adams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isidro and Ophilia Martinez; and her brother Joe Martinez.

A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 21, 2017, followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at the Allnutt Macy Chapel, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Notre Dame Catholic Church, 2190 South Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO.  Burial services to be held at 1:15 P.M. at Fort Logan Cemetery.  Reception to follow from 3-6:00 P.M at St. Cajetan Church, 299 South Raleigh St., Denver, CO.
