Soveida M. Ozawa

Alamosa resident Soveida M. “Ada” Ozawa, 87, passed away on March 31, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Ada was born on August 22, 1930 in Amalia, New Mexico to Alfonso Martinez and Adela Romero Martinez. Ada’s occupation involved working in the food service industry. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, taking care of her grandchildren and enjoyed family activities. Ada was best known for her delicious sopapillas and fried chicken. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children Luella Ozawa (Elizabeth Brennan) of Denver, Colorado, Sandy Kuenhold (John) of Alamosa, Colorado, Steve Ozawa (Lorna) of Lakewood, Colorado, Ed Ozawa (Suzie) of Thornton, Colorado, Vernon Ozawa (Dena) of Centennial, Colorado, and Dennis Ozawa (Kelly) of Alamosa, Colorado and her  grandchildren Karl (Mikaelah) Kuenhold of Alamosa, Colorado, Nicole (Chris) Bruns of Lakewood, Colorado, Kayla (Domingo) Salazar of Alamosa, Colorado, Jennifer Ozawa of Kent, Washington, Katie (Chris) La Casse of Brighton, Colorado and her great grandchildren Sloane Bruns, Asher Bruns, and Emma Salazar.

She is also survived by her siblings Susie Martinez of Chama, Colorado, Ester (Oliver) Manzanares of San Pablo, Colorado, Mary Valencia of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Ben (Mary) Martinez of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Glen (Mary) Martinez of Henderson, Colorado and Alfred (Rose) Martinez of Lafayette, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Yvonne Lovato, and brother Julian Martinez.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart church of Alamosa, Colorado with a viewing one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at the Alamosa Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Cancer Center at 2115 Stuart Avenue, Alamosa, Colorado 81101.
