Serafin Paul Casias, 78
Antonito resident Serafin Paul Casias, 78, passed away October 3, 2017 peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. Serafin was welcomed into the world on July 1, 1939 in San Antonio, Colorado; the beloved son of Maximilano Casias and Sofia Martinez Casias. Serafin was united in marriage to Natividad Gallegos on May 3, 1959, the two shared a long, loving and happy union until his passing. Serafin was an exceptional, loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding dirt bikes,watching wrestling and western movies, going for hikes and long walks. He cherished the time he was able to spend with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife Natividad Casias of Antonito, CO; daughters Donna (Rogelio) Briones of Alamosa, CO; DiAnna (Jack) Stansall of Denver, CO; Sophie (Clemente) Quintana of Carlsbad, NM; sons Joseph (Theresa) Casias, Matthew (Dawn) Casias both of Alamosa, CO; Paul (Lori) Casias of Manassa, CO; Stacy (Toucha) Casias of Sanford, CO; Shawn (Kelli) Casias of Antonito, CO; 17 grandchildren Augustina, Alicia, Rogelio, Julio, Maria, Joseph Jr., Manuelito, Pamela, Thaddeus, Nickolas, MilaLyn, Kevin, Mia, Hanah, Moises, Jason, Michael, 10 great-grandchildren Emilia, Sophia, Timothy, Bryce, Jace, Jossilyn, Carlos, Julio, Alaina, Alexis, sister Stella Casias of San Antonio. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Serafin was preceded in death by his parents Maximilano and Sofia Casias, three brothers Jose, Gaspar and Benigno Casias, two sisters Celina Trujillo, Theresa Trujillo and one daughter-in-law Theresa Casias.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be held Sunday at 2:00 P M at the Ortiz Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday from 1-5 at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Antonito. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Antonito.
