Saul Velasco

ALAMOSA — Saul Velasco, 33, passed away July 18, 2019 with his loving family surrounding him.  Saul was born May 11, 1986 to Guadalupe Velasco and Ester Gutierrez. He grew up with his brother and sister in Alamosa.

Saul was a hard and dedicated worker and was often found working weekends and long days as the packing supervisor at Rakhra Mushroom Farm, where he worked for many years. He was an avid collector of many things and enjoyed the mountains, fishing, low rider cars and sports -- favorites were Colorado Rockies and the Oakland Raiders. Saul’s eyes would light up when talking about his recent acquisitions and why they were special. What he cherished most of all was spending time with mom, family, his friend Catie, playing with his nieces, nephew, and his dogs and cats.

He is survived by his grandmother, Gregoria Gonzalez, parents Guadalupe Velasco and Esther Gutierrez, brother Lupe Velasco and his wife Lillian, sister Adela Velasco, and brothers David and Angel Velasco (Jalisco, Mexico), his best friend Caitlin Rheaume, his beloved nieces Heavenly and Divinity, and nephew Uriel, uncles, aunts and cousins. Saul was taken too soon and will be dearly missed.

Rosary will be held Wednesday, July 24 at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church and a Memorial Mass on Thursday, July 25 at 11 a.m., also at Sacred Heart Church.
