Ruth Evelyn Longshore, 94

Alamosa resident Ruth Evelyn Longshore, 94, passed away peacefully at the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa on January 29, 2019.

Ruth’s journey began on August 1, 1924 in Columbus, Ohio.  She was born to William Bryan Longshore and Inez Ida Born Longshore.  She spent most of her working life in Florida and worked for many years as a Bookkeeper.  She truly loved math and working with numbers. 

Ruth moved to Monte Vista in 2013 to be closer to family and lived at The Legacy there.  In 2015 she transferred to the San Luis Care Center in Alamosa and would spend the remainder of her life under their loving care.  She was a very friendly person who had many friends and enjoyed spending time socializing with anyone. 

Ruth liked to do crafts, painting and crocheting.  She painted several landscapes and floral scenes and had an affinity for the color pink.  She also crocheted made many items throughout the years.  In her younger years she loved her dogs and enjoyed raised Cocker Spaniels. 

She is survived by her sister Leona Longshore-Pratt of Delray Beach, FL; her nieces Pattie Swift of Alamosa and Pamela (Keith Humphries) Pratt-Ramsey of Delray Beach, FL; her great niece Lindsay Swift of Tucson, AZ and her great-nephew Dean Swift of Santa Fe, NM; as well as numerous cousins and extended family.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents William and Inez, and her brother-in-law John Pratt.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the San Luis Care Center, 240 Craft Drive in Alamosa.  Contributions are suggested in her memory to Humane Society of the United States.
