Richard Arthur Cormier, 67

Manassa, Colorado – Manassa resident Richard Arthur Cormier, 67, died November 30, 2018 at the Presbyterian/St. Luke’s General Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

Richard was born on September 6, 1951 in Agana, Guam to Gerard A. and Maria D. Cormier.  Richard, more than anything, was a father, a patriot, a giver and a friend to many.  He was a member of the U.S. Army’s Elite Special Forces, a Physician Assistant, a Manager, an Executive and a Teacher.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and always keeping busy.  He always tried hard to make a difference in someone else’s life.  Richard was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as an Elder’s Quorum President, a Scoutmaster, a Branch President, and a member of the High Priest Group Leadership.  He so wanted to go on a mission once his children were grown as he missed out on an opportunity to serve as a Mission President due to his employment situation.

He is survived by his wife Suzan, his children Jake (Kelby), Katie, Nicole, Bo, Robert and Michael.  He is also survived by his father Gerard A. Cormier, Sr.; his brothers William, Mark and Gerard Jr. Cormier; his sisters Shirley (Roger Sr.), Cathy, Linda (Roger Jr.), and Jeannie of Maine.

Richard is preceded in death by his mother Maria Diego Cormier, paternal grandparents Arthur and Amanda Cormier and his maternal grandparents Emensio and Katherine Diego.

A Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Primary Room at the church on Saturday, December 8, 2018, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. in Manassa, all at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Manassa.  Interment will follow in the Manassa Cemetery.  The family has asked that instead of gifts or flowers, donations can be made to the Memorial Fund for Richard Cormier for his surviving children, c/o 1st Southwest Bank, 720 Main Street/PO Box 1139 in Alamosa, CO 81101.
