Psychological evaluation scheduled in DeLuna case

ALAMOSA — Pending a psychologist’s evaluation, District Judge Michael Gonzales on Wednesday continued cases pending against Nazzreth DeLuna, 30, who among other charges is charged with attempted first-degree murder and arson in connection with a fire last September that rendered an Alamosa residence uninhabitable.

DeLuna remains in custody and appeared in court with his attorney James Dostal on Wednesday. Dostal told the judge that he had been trying to line up a psychological evaluation and a few weeks ago received approval from Alternate Defense Counsel to conduct the evaluation. He said a psychologist from Colorado Springs will be interviewing DeLuna at the Alamosa County jail this Friday.

He added that once he receives the psychologist’s report, it will help him determine what direction to take with the case.

Judge Gonzales rescheduled DeLuna’s case for July 17.
