ALAMOSA — Patricia Smith, born June 21, 1931 to Faustine and Marjorie Mascarenas along with her twin sister Pricilla Thorpe.

Raised in Alamosa, Patricia, moved to Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 18. That is when she met and married Ray Smith. They moved to Kansas City, Mo., where she gave birth to her three children. She returned to Alamosa as a single mother to raise her three children with the help of her parents.

She will be remembered as having a caring, giving and compassionate heart. She cared for both of her elderly parents until both of their deaths.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings Faustina Dirkson, Frances (Leo) Griego, Victoria (Al) Rodriguez, Richard Mascarenas, and her twin sister Priscilla (Ray) Thorpe. Patricia was the youngest of the Mascarenas’ and the last surviving child.

She is survived by her three  children Deborah (Steve) Malouff, Robyn (Barry) Petty, and Gary (Vera) Smith; 14 grandchildren Douglas Malouff, Tayna Reeb, Stephen Malouff II, Amanda (Jason) Lewis, Kristina (Jason) Lenburg, Patricia Malouff, Michelle Mallouff, Samantha Malouff,  Joel Buckingham, Logan Cummins, Taylor Cummins, Scott Smith, Bryce (Dana) Smith, and Ryan Smith; 12 great-grandchildren Matthew Malouff, Ethan Lincoln, Patricia Malouff, Christopher Malouff, Stevie Marie Reeb, Madison Malouff, Cidney Mallouff, Stephen Malouff III, Jordan Henderson, Shealynn Lewis, Chase Lewis, Rece Lenburg; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Her daughter Deborah cared for her for 10 years until her death on May 14, 2019. She is now in heaven with our Heavenly Father and at peace. Mom’s suffering is over.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday May 17, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Alamosa at 1 p.m. A Reading of the Rosary will be at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday May 16 at 7 p.m. Interment will follow the services at Alamosa Cemetery.
