Norma Arlene McEwan

ALAMOSA — Norma Arlene McEwan, 95, of Alamosa, Colo., passed away Sept. 24, 2019.
Norma was born to Anthony and Bernice Preston, May 3, 1924, in Newcastle, Wyo.
Norma was educated in Wyoming and Hawaii and went back to school at the age of 40 to earn her master’s degree.

She taught fourth grade from 1968 to 1986 in Cheyenne.
After spending many of her retirement years in Sun City, Ariz., Norma moved to Alamosa in 1999 to be close to her daughter, Sylvia Wakefield.

Norma enjoyed playing golf and cards with friends and was a member of the Alamosa Senior Center.

She was a true animal lover. Much of her joy came from spending time with the cats and dogs she shared her home with over the years.
Norma was preceded in death by her daughter, Sylvia Wakefield (deceased 2014).

She is survived by her daughter, Leslie McEwan of Alamosa; and four grandchildren, Todd Wakefield of Steamboat Springs, Mark (Lori) Wakefield of Buena Vista, Luke Vosler of Cheyenne and Bric Mahlum of Denver.

She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Logan and Peyton, of Buena Vista.
Norma passed away peacefully in the company of family and friends.
