Mary Jane Thomas Rogers of Alamosa, Colorado, passed away on Sunday afternoon the 10th of February 2019. Mary Jane was born and raised in Romeo and lived her married life in Alamosa. She graduated from La Jara High School, obtained her cosmetology license in Denver and attended both Brigham Young University and Adams State College.
Mary Jane married William R. (Bill) Rogers in the Mesa Arizona Temple on the 12th of December 1958, was the mother of five children and was known as “Grandmary” to 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Harold and Bertha Thomas, brothers, H. Dale Thomas and Leland Thomas and her sister Sharon Brady. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill Rogers, her children Jack (Lorie) Rogers, Kelly Rogers, Tom (Tina) Rogers, Mickie (Tom) Crowther, and Mark (Dani) Rogers and her sister Dorothea Shawcroft.
They are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have donated countless hours of service to neighbors and members of the community. They also served an 18 month mission in San Salvador, El Salvador December between 2001 to June 2003 where they learned to love and serve the people there. Mary Jane will be forever remembered for her infectious smile and love for life.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 16th, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 927 Weber Drive. Friends are welcome to meet with family Friday evening from 6-8 pm at the Rogers Funeral home in Alamosa.
