MANASSA — Lifetime Manassa resident Maria Perfecta Cordova, 78, died Nov. 7, 2023, at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, Colo.
Maria was born in Antonito, Colo., on June 7, 1945, to Herman Chavez and Edna Martinez. She Married Harold Cordova on Nov. 11, 1978, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos.
Maria loved spending time with her family and her dog Bella. She enjoyed baking wonderful desserts for her friends and family. Maria was very active and enjoyed walking and exercising. She also had fun shopping, especially when she could find a good bargain. She worked for many years at Bagwell’s Turquoise and worked as a cook in the North Conejos School District as well as for the Conejos County Hospital.
Maria is survived by her children; Patricia Annette (Allan) Turner, Pueblo West, Colo., Brian Cordova, Los Lunas, N.M., Anthony (Cassidy) Cordova Belen, N.M., Bobby Cordova Manassa, Colo., Yvonne (Alan) Cordova Albuquerque, N.M., Beverly (Lyle) Cordova Alamosa, Colo., J.R. (Tami) Cordova Albuquerque, N.M., Sisters, Viola Chavez Alamosa, Colo., Betty (Lawrence) Samora Alamosa, Colo., Patricia Sanchez Dumont, Colo., brothers Alex Chavez Commerce City, Colo., Frank Chavez Alamosa, Colo., David Chavez Antonito, Colo., grandchildren; Kendra (Devin) Martinez Los Lunas, N.M., Mikayla Turner Pueblo West, Colo., Josh (Alecia) Cordova Belen, N.M., Shauncey Cordova Belen, N.M., Shaylee Cordova Amarillo, Texas, Kynlee Cordova Belen, N.M., KaceLynn Cordova Belen, N.M., and great-grandchild Blakleigh Martinez Belen, N.M. Maria is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband Harold Cordova, the father of her children Canuto “Nuddie” Cordova, parents Herman Chavez and Edna Martinez, and their infant child Susan Cordova, Brother Dwane Chavez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos, with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Further visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service 10 a.m. with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. Committal services will follow in the Manassa-Romeo Cemetery.
