Monte Vista resident, Manuel ‘Uncle Manny” Fred Gonzales, 82 passed away February 7, 2019 at the Monte Vista Estates in Monte Vista, CO surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on December 6, 1936 in Sargent, CO. to Eufemio Gonzales and Frances Quintana Gonzales. 

Manuel was a loyal husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who loved family time and was a hard worker.  He was a long-time City employee of Monte Vista and was given a day of recognition by the City as “Uncle Manny Day” to be celebrated yearly on October 15th.

Survivors include his sons, Mark (Donna) Gonzales of Monte Vista, CO; Matthew (Rachel) Gonzales of Monte Vista, CO; sister, Mary Gonzales of Monte Vista, CO; grandson he raised, Jeremiah Gonzales; grandchildren, Nathan (Sylvia), Matthew Anthony (Leesa), Marisah (Jacob), Dominick (Erin), Alyssa (Daniel), Jennifer, Hannah, Niko, Mateo, Fanteysia, Anjanae; and 17 great grandchildren. Numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive Manuel.

He is proceeded in death by his wife, Nora Ann Gonzales; parents, Eufemio and Frances Gonzales, three bothers, Joe, Robert, and Felix Gonzales; sisters, Jennie Pacheco, Lupita Maes; and great grandson, Mark Tuff Gonzales.

Cremation was chosen and a Memorial ‘Celebration of Life’ service will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 10:00 at the Feed Store Church in Monte Vista, CO.
