Man charged for attempted murder in Alamosa shooting Friday

ALAMOSA — On Friday, Dec. 29 at about 12:56 p.m. the Alamosa Police Department Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the vicinity of the 1100 block of Railroad Avenue. Once officers arrived on scene, police dispatch received a report of a male gunshot victim at the emergency center of San Luis Valley Health.

Officers on scene conducted their investigation and learned the shooting was a result of an argument that led to a discharge of a weapon. The victim's injuries were not life threatening. The investigation revealed that the suspect, 45-year-old Alamosa resident Henry Lovato, was the one who allegedly discharged the weapon. He was taken into custody and transported to SLV Health for medical clearance. Lovato is being held at the Alamosa County Detention Center on the charge of attempted murder.
