Antonito resident Lorene M. Thomas (Lorene M. Salazar-Thomas), 76, passed away June 5, 2018, in Antonito, CO with her loving family by her side. Lorene was born on September 1, 1941, in Monte Vista, CO. The daughter of Feliberto Salazar and Sophia Duran Salazar. Lorene was a member and a Eucharistic Minister for St. Dominic Catholic Church, in Colorado Springs, CO. In her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her son and grandchildren, and always helping others.

Her survivors include her son Sean and daughter-in-law Shonee Thomas of Colorado Springs, CO. Eight grandchildren Jonathan Thomas, Cara Thomas, Lainee Thomas, Brennon Stocker, Vanessa Sandlin, Emily Sandlin, Ashlynn Sandlin and Mike Sandlin; Two sisters Laura (Anthony) Rodriguez of Belen, NM; Catherine Salazar of Antonito, CO; three brothers Willie (Michelle) Salazar of Antonito, CO; Steve (Jessica) Salazar of Manassa, CO; Michael (Peggy) Salazar of Greeley, CO; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lorene was preceded in death by her mother Sophia Salazar, her father Phil Salazar and her sister Beatrice (Toby) Maestas.
