Monte Vista resident Leonard Wayne Leyba passed away October 6, 2017. Leonard was born on April 17, 1972 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the beloved son of Leroy Leo Leyba and Evangeline Ortega Leyba. Leonard was a people person, he always made friends everywhere he went. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, nephew, cousin and friend who enjoyed going fishing, hunting and was an avid Raiders fan.

Survivors include his mother Evangeline Leyba of Garcia, CO; daughter Valarie Hernandez of Questa, NM; grandson James Gonzales of Arroyo Hondo, NM. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by his father Leroy Leo Leyba, son Frankie Leyba and one sister Mary Lee Ortega.

A Rosary will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. Funeral Service and Inurnment will be held at a later date. Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday from 1-5 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
