Lee A. Cary, 89

Lee A. Cary, 89, of Pueblo West, Colorado, passed away on March 24, 2017. Lee was a sheepherder, philosopher, educator, and admirer of the works of Mark Twain, J. Frank Dobie, and John Dewey. Philosophically eclectic, he believed in the concept of God, but he rejected the idea of a heavenly father. His legacy lies in the education and contributions to society of his children, grandchildren, and students.

Lee is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Kurt Cary and daughter, Denice Sandefur; grandchildren, Scott Sandefur and Ryan Snyder, Melissa Cary, Joe Cary, Jake Cary and Talia Jo Guerrero; and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Ardis Ord and Edythe Hirasawa.

Lee requested that there be no services and that he be cremated. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1207 Pueblo Blvd. Way, Pueblo, CO 81005.
