FORT GARLAND — John Joseph Chase, 88, of Fort Garland, Colo., passed away peacefully on Sept. 25, 2019.

John was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on May 26, 1931, to Constantine and Anna Chase.

Upon graduation from Fordham University, John spent two years in the United States Air Force, attaining rank of First Lieutenant. He went on to complete a law degree at St. John’s Law School.

John had a successful career as an insurance lawyer with the Hartford Insurance Agency and the New York State Liquidation Bureau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a twin brother, Raphael (Bob) Chase.

John is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley; and a brother, Cornelius (Carolyn) Chase; in addition to five children, daughters Lisa (Robert) Laissle, Barbara (John) Pugliese and sons, Robert (Jean) Chase, John (Maureen) Chase and Thomas Chase (Katherine). John was also blessed with seven grandchildren.

A praying of the Rosary will take place on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

at Holy Family Mission Church, 626 Beaubien Ave, Fort Garland, Colo.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Mission Church, 626 Beaubien Ave, Fort Garland, Colo.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
