Jerry Dean “Deano” Maldonado, 54

Jerry Dean “Deano” Maldonado, 54, a lifelong resident of Blanca, CO joined Jesus on April 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Described by his family as someone who “didn’t just light up a room, he was the SUN,” Deano was adored by all who knew him. A kind-hearted, fun-loving, hilarious and witty man, people were drawn to him because of how special he made them feel and how hard he made them laugh. A meticulous mechanic and big game hunting guide at Trinchera Ranch in Ft. Garland for over 30 years, he rubbed elbows with the rich and famous, yet remained humble. It mattered not if you were rich or poor, tall or short, he was a friend to all and accepted people for who they were. His love for the Lord and his family was evident. He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army, stationed in Salinas, CA and Tacoma, WA.

He leaves behind, just for a time, his loyal, beautiful wife of 36 years Sandra (Lucero) Maldonado; his three children, Deena Maldonado, Ft. Garland; Cassie (Josh Taylor) Maldonado, Ft. Garland; Joshua (Julia Toczek) Maldonado ,Ft. Garland; and five grandchildren, Isiah and Bella Chairez, Alex Pacheco, Aubree and Madilynn (Maddie) Taylor; his parents Jerry and Bella Maldonado, Blanca; sisters Lori Austin, Denver; Yvonne (Glen) Villanueva, Modesto, CA; Leslie (Adam) Cordova, Walsenburg; and Julie Maldonado, Oakland, CA.

Services will be held at the Blanca/Ft. Garland Community Center on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Sandra Maldonado, Blanca, CO 81123
