James "Jackie" Patrick Cordova, 79

Garcia resident James "Jackie" Patrick Cordova, 79, passed away June 11, 2017 at his home under Hospice Care with his loving family by his side. James was born on February 26, 1938 in Alamosa, Colorado, the son of Alfonso Cordova and Anita Ortiz Cordova. Jackie was a veteran of the United States Army. After completion of his duties in the service, he was united in marriage to Maria Arellano on January 31, 1972 in Denver, Colorado. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a life member of the V.F.W. Jackie enjoyed going fishing, doing yard work and carpentry. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and he loved the time he was able to spend with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife Maria Cordova of Garcia, CO; daughters Rosalie (Jimmy) Rivera of Taos, NM; Debbie (Victor) Accolla of Aurora, CO; Louella (Marvin) Sanchez of Colorado Springs, CO; sons Kenny (Louise) Segura of San Pablo, CO; Billy (Julie) Segura of Garcia, CO; James (Veronica) Cordova of Los Lunas, NM; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one brother Alfonso (Patsy) Cordova Jr., of Garcia, CO. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents Alfonso and Anita Cordova and one sister Shirley Madrid.

A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 7:00 PM at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM also at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis. Interment will follow at the Garcia Catholic Cemetery in Garcia, Colorado with full military honors. The care of arrangements have been entrusted to Romero Funeral Home of San Luis.
