Hearing continued in murder case

CONEJOS — A two-day preliminary hearing scheduled this week for Santos Nevares, 25, charged in a triple homicide in Capulin on January 15, has been postponed, with no new date set.

Rio Grande County Judge Barbara Zollars, who is presiding over the case since Conejos County Judge Kimberly Cortez recused herself, granted the preliminary hearing continuance and scheduled a setting for August 17.

Nevares is charged with the shooting deaths of Lupe Cervantes, 57 and Jose “Joey” Manuel Archuleta, 54, and Marissa Luz Cervantez, 30, as well as wounding Don “Kinki” Martinez, 34.
