Friday morning crash

Alamosa firefighters assist at the scene of a two-car crash at the Highway 160 intersection into Walmart in Alamosa on Friday morning.

According to the Alamosa Police Department, this crash at Main St. and Cielo Azul (Walmart) on November 17 involved two vehicles that sustained extreme damage as a result of the impact, and four occupants of the "not at fault vehicle" were transported to the hospital, exact injuries unknown. The crash was as a result of the "at fault vehicle" a 2003, Chevy truck being driven by Clyde Garcia, 83, of Center traveling eastbound on Hwy 160 approaching the traffic signal. Garcia failed to yield the right-of-way when turning left to oncoming traffic, which resulted in the second vehicle (not at fault) hitting Garcia's vehicle, according to the police department. Garcia was issued a summons into municipal court for careless driving causing bodily injury.
