Alamosa firefighters respond Wednesday afternoon to a brush fire in an unoccupied area just north of the Alamosa Cemetery. Fortunately no structures were threatened, the wind was mild, and firefighters were able to knock down the fire and keep it from spreading.

The Rio Grande National Forest and Bureau of Land Management’s San Luis Valley Field Office announced they are initiating Stage 1 fire restrictions beginning May 21, and counties throughout the San Luis Valley including Alamosa County are expected to follow suit.
