Cecilia M. Stevens, 75

Cecilia M. Stevens, known to many in the Monte Vista Community as "Cece", passed away at her home in Monte Vista on March 4, 2017 at the age of 75. Cece was born on October 22, 1941 in Monte Vista, the beloved daughter of Abedon Madril and Senaida Aragon Madril. Cece devoted over 40 years of her life in the health care field. She touched many lives and she was so happy she got to do a mission at an orphanage in the Honduras. She did her work, not only in Monte Vista, but the entire San Luis Valley. Cece was a graduate of Monte Vista High School and went on to further her education by studying nursing at the El Paso Vocational School and the San Luis Valley Vocational School, where she was named the employee of the quarter in July of 1991. She was a member of the Monte Vista City Council and the Lariat Community Baptist Church Council. Cecilia's hobbies included reading, sewing, embroidery, and spending as much time as she could with her family, grandchildren and friends.

Survivors include her daughter Rosemary Salvio of Monte Vista, CO; son Paul (Georgetta) Stevens of Red Cliff, CO; sister Mary Martinez of Monte Vista, CO; brother Gilbert (Marvine) Madril of Monte Vista, CO.  Abedon (Dani) Madril Jr. of Denver, CO; grandchildren Angelica (Joe) Sanchez of Pueblo West, CO; Brandon Stevens of Monte Vista, CO; Monique Stevens of Red Cliff, CO; and great-grandchildren CeCy Sanchez and Neo Sanchez. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cece was preceded in death by her parents Abedon and Senaida Madril, brother Frank Madril, sister Priscilla Madril, nephews Ernest Madril, Andrew Gama, and Jerry Valdez.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to mom's home away from home: the Grace Baptist Church at 406 Lincoln Ave, Monte Vista, CO. 81144. Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Monte Vista. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Calvery Baptist Church in Monte Vista. The care of arrangements have been placed in the care of Romero Funeral Home of Monte Vista.
