August Freeman Scheunemann II

August Freeman Scheunemann II entered this world in Denver on January 30, 1945 to Freeman and Mildred Scheunemann.  He passed away September 19, 2018.  Uncle Chip and Chip, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, grew up in the Scheunemann family home in Holyoke.  He graduated from Holyoke High School in 1963, North Eastern Junior College and Parks School of Business in Denver, CO.  Soon after, he returned to Holyoke to help run the family department store.  During that time, Chip was involved with numerous civic organizations in the Holyoke area.  He continued to run the store for many years after the loss of his parents.  He was very proud the store had been continuously run by the family for 119 years.

Throughout life, Chip enjoyed cars, books, model trains, old movies and his yard.  He took tremendous pride in his building projects at the store and home.  He especially loved Colorado, US and World history.  Also of special interest was the family genealogy in which he researched and kept meticulous records.  He truly enjoyed his family and friends, and he kept a wonderful sense of humor throughout his life.  He made the world a little better place.

Surviving with loving memories are his sisters Karen (Clark) Bright of Tucson, AZ and Lisa Absmeier of Alamosa, CO; nephew Adrian Absmeier of Alamosa, CO; niece Ashley (Travis)  Koppenhafer of Alamosa, CO; great nephews Kane and Blade Absmeier and Grant Koppenhafer, all of Alamosa, CO; and special friend Carolyn Koberstein of Holyoke, CO.

Chip was preceded in death by his parents Freeman and Mildred Scheunemann, a brother Baby Boy Scheunemann, brother-in-law Steve Absmeier, and grandparents August and Beda Scheunemann and Elizabeth and Glenn Bennett.

Services were held on September 27th in Holyoke with a private interment at the Holyoke Cemetery.
