ANTONITO — Lifetime resident Antonio Angelo Velasquez, 77, went to his eternal rest on Aug. 3, 2019 at Parkview Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Angelo was born on March 17, 1942 in San Rafael, the son of Juan B. Velasquez Jr., and Annie C. Vigil Velasquez. He was united in marriage to Lena Madril on August 31, 1964, the two shared a long, happy and loving union until his passing. Angelo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, carpentry, bookkeeping/accounting. He was also a member of the Rotary Club. Angelo’s greatest joy in life came from spending as much time as he could with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife Lena Velasquez of Antonito; son Tony A. (Angela) Velasquez of Antonito; grandsons Antonio J. Velasquez, Steven J. Velasquez both of Antonito; nephew John B. Velasquez IV of Antonito; and sister-in-law Mary Ann Velasquez of Antonito. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.
Angelo was preceded in death by his parents Juan B. Velasquez Jr., and Annie C. Vigil, brother Juan “John” Velasquez III.
A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Internment will be held at a later date.
