County holds unmanned aircraft ticket

ALAMOSA COUNTY — Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) are one knot closer to flying about the Valley’s skies.

The Alamosa County Commissioners (ACC) unanimously voted Wednesday during their regular meeting to serve as the official Federal Aviation Association (FAA) Certificate of Authorization (COA) applicant, a requirement to bring the $100 billion industry to southern Colorado.

“Individual industry will not drive the boat,” said UAS Colorado Vice Chairman John Huguely. “This gives you the ultimate authority... We are letting you have control. We too want to help this county... the logical choice from our perspective is Alamosa County.”
