ALAMOSA — As with most events the first time out, Alamosa Chamber of Commerce decided to do a few things differently for the second annual barbecue competition this year.
Randy Wright, executive director for the Alamosa County Economic Development Corporation and Alamosa County Chamber of Commerce, told the Alamosa city council Wednesday night about some of the changes for this year’s barbecue event and asked for the city’s financial support.
The city council unanimously approved a $5,000 sponsorship for the event, with the funds to come from the city’s non-department budget line item for sponsorships ($3,500) plus anticipated savings in that line item ($1,500.)
One of the major changes for the 2nd Annual San Luis Valley Beat the Heat, BBQ, Brews and Chili event is the date. For the complete article see the 06-06-2014 issue.
