Alamosa resident Jeffrey “Paco” Martinez, 58, passed away August 8, 2013 at his home. Jeff was born on October 7, 1954 in Alamosa, Colorado, the son of Manuel Martinez and Corrine Cordova Quintana. He was enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War. Jeff was a wonderful son and brother who enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, caring for his four-legged friend “Cujo,” and the time he spent with his family and friends. Jeff was a life-long learner and was studying to become a counselor.
Survivors include sister Georgeane Martinez of Alamosa, CO; brother Robert “Red” (Natalie) Martinez of Las Vegas, NV; half-sister Alice Lorene Espinoza of Denver, CO; step-mother Frances Martinez of Centennial, CO; step-brother Carlos (Pauline) Lopez of Albuquerque, NM; step-sister Florence (Ken) Stookesberry of Centennial, CO; Fran (Steve) Johnson of Denver, CO. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father Manuel Martinez, mother Corrine Quintana, and his step-father Tony Quintana.
Cremation was chosen and a graveside service will be held Friday, August 16, 2013 at 10 am at the Alamosa Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Romero Funeral Home of Alamosa.
