Letter to the editor: Where was Indian Nickel?

Posted: Wednesday, Jun 26th, 2013

Dear Editor:

My name is Jim Quiller. I am a life-long resident of the San Luis Valley and a longtime supporter of Valley Music. I have a deep respect for all musicians and the work it takes to do what they do.

I am a little disappointed about SummerFest weekend in the park. A local band that has been a tradition at the park was not invited to return.

I speak of Indian Nickel. They have performed for the last 10 years. They are the best band when it comes to Spanish music; corridos, cumbias, etc. They are the best!

The man I spoke to about this stated that he was the tradition and pretty much decided that he alone decided on who appears and who does not.

The fact that there was no Spanish music, whatsoever is sad enough. But not to have Indian Nickel back is a shame.

Let us hope that they realize that some things should not be changed. Indian Nickel is one of them.

Thank you,

Jim Quiller
