COLORADO SPRINGS—Adams State University sprint specialist Kayon Robinson has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week.
Robinson was outstanding this past weekend in two events at the University of New Mexico Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational this past weekend in Albuquerque.
In the 200 meter dash, Robinson clocked a time of 23.45 seconds to win the event and automatically qualify for the national championships. Robinson's time is currently the fastest time posted by a Division II athlete this season in the 200 meter dash event.
Robinson also ran the second leg on the women's 4x100 meter relay team, which placed second overall at the meet. The Grizzly 4x100 meter relay team's time of 45.71 seconds is a provisional qualifying time for the national championships and is the sixth fastest time in the nation thus far.
The Grizzlies are scheduled to compete this weekend at the West Texas A&M Open in Canyon, Texas this weekend.
