We humans are interesting beings. We’re all fascinated by each other and what we can do. That’s just human nature.
Back in my high school days (I write as though they were so long ago), Track and Field and Cross Country Coach Larry Zaragosa told a group of runners, including me, that he once had a student-athlete join the cross country team just to see how much he could push himself. At the time, I thought that was hogwash, a bunch of coach-speak aimed at inspiring the team.
Some years later, I know that statement was true. There is an element to human nature where we need to continually prove to ourselves that we can accomplish great things despite the odds.
