Longtime Alamosa resident Wayne Allen Lopez, 62, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, at Pike Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, with his loving wife by his side. Wayne was welcomed into the world on Aug. 28, 1962, in Alamosa, Colo., the son of Fred Max Lopez and Nadine Anna Jaramillo Lopez. 

After graduating high school, Wayne enlisted and served in the United States Army for 9 years. After completing his duties and being honorably discharged, Wayne worked as a Diesel Mechanic for ACI for over 22 years until he was able to retire. 

He was married to Josephine (Velasquez) Lopez. Their marriage lasted 16 years, and they were together for 19 years. They shared a happy and loving marriage until he took his last breath.  

Wayne was a very good man and an extraordinary father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed.  

He will live on through his daughter Devin Touchton of Florida; stepchildren Ruby Jo Cordova, Lucinda Lucero and 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, whom he raised, Robert and Arius Lopez and Nizhoni Harrison. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  

Wayne was preceded in death by his son Wayne Lopez Jr., stepson Rocky Cordova, grandson little Roc, mother Nadine, father Fred, and brother Fred Lopez Jr. and a surviving sibling Anna Lopez-Archuleta (Casey) as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  

Cremation was chosen. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa.
