Walter Olivio Romero was called to his eternal rest on March 26, 2025. Born on Oct. 18, 1957, in Los Pinos, N.M., Walter was a beacon of light and a testament to Jehovah’s work throughout his 67 years on this earth.
Walter, a man of profound faith and unwavering devotion, walked the path of righteousness with Jehovah by his side. He spent his years in service, not only as a steadfast commercial truck driver but as a generous soul who took great joy in lending a helping hand to those in need. His love for Jehovah's creation was evident in his passion for the great outdoors, where he found peace and solace in camping, fishing, and 4-wheeling.
He was a loving husband to his dear wife, Irene Romero, of Monte Vista, Colo. Together, they shared a life full of love and devotion. Walter was a proud father to his children, Stephanie Martinez of La Jara, Colo., Waldo (Cynthia) Romero of Alamosa, Colo., and Moriah (Ryan) Trujillo of Alamosa, Colo. His eight beautiful grandchildren, Iliana and Analise Martinez, Ayden, Jasiah, Zavian, and Waylon Romero, Rylee, and Zoey Trujillo, were the apples of his eye, his pride and joy.
Walter's love extended to his siblings Eddie, Ronnie, Tony, Johnnie, Michael Romero, Margaret Garcia, Geraldine Duran, Rosemary Torres, and Kathy Martinez, as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in glory by his parents Ubaldo and Celina (Gallegos) Romero, his brothers Alfonso and Rudy Romero, and his daughter Stephanie Lynn Romero.
A man of great generosity, Walter's spirit of giving knew no bounds. He was a loving, faith-filled servant of Jehovah, who enjoyed preaching and sharing his faith with others. Walter cherished his family, and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved going to the gym and he loved his truck. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Cremation has been chosen and a Memorial Service will be held at the Monte Vista Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 12 p.m.
