Valley Courier to adjust print newspaper schedule

Posted

ALAMOSA – The Valley Courier is adjusting its print schedule to two days a week, down from its current four days a week. The VC’s print edition will be available on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting Dec. 11.

The move will allow the Courier to enhance its digital products and still deliver to print readers as much news as before. The news previously contained in the Tuesday and Friday Courier will shift to the Wednesday and Saturday editions.

“This change allows us to grow our print and digital offerings. With this move we will add features, more local voices and additional content,” Valley Courier Managing Editor Brian Williams said.

The plan includes having themed pages such as food and drink, entertainment, or business. The focus and frequency of these will be introduced in the coming weeks.

“This is a move that we feel will allow us to bring readers the same amount of news they have come to expect and expand on this in print and online. One major addition is more local columnists,” Williams stated.

After it shifts to printing two days a week, the VC will continue to offer breaking and daily news content at www.AlamosaNews.com seven days a week and its e-edition, a digital replica of the print edition.

There will be no staff changes with the new print schedule.

The Valley Courier is part of San Luis Valley Publishing LLC, which also publishes weekly the Monte Vista Journal, Del Norte Prospector, South Fork Tines, Mineral County Miner, Center Post-Dispatch, and San Luis Valley Lifestyles.

“We are excited about this and our future. Change can be a good thing,” Williams stated.
