ALAMOSA — Alamosa firefighters responded to a fire at 2232 Thomas Avenue, Apartment A, one of the Alamosa Housing Authority apartments, at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8.
According to Alamosa Fire Chief Don Chapman the fire began in one of the bedrooms in the apartment and there was some extension into the hallway, with the unit sustaining significant smoke damage throughout. However, the fire was contained to the one unit.
Although the investigation is continuing, it appears the cause was accidental, according to the chief.
Firefighters stayed on scene for over two hours on Tuesday, with some personnel on scene until 6 p.m. to deal with hot spots and perform the fire investigation.
