Thurman “Lee” Williams of Lakewood, Colo., died at 2:55 a.m. on April 18, 2023, in La Jara, Colo. He was born on Nov. 21, 1938, in Madisonville, Ky., to Alice and Clifford Williams who preceded him in death. He had 10 brothers and sisters.
He has two sons, John Williams of Colorado Springs, Colo., who preceded him in death and Adam Williams “Bull” of Alamosa, Colo. He has five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He joined the Air Force in 1956 and was stationed in Colorado Springs. After the service, he worked for The Singer Co. as a branch manager at stores in Lakewood, Colo., Aurora, Colo., San Mateo, Calif., and Boulder, Colo., from 1959 until 1971.
He then went to work as a salesman in 1971 for American Photocopy of Denver. He was a top salesman and number one manager in the United States and won many awards with both companies. In 1978 he became President and C.E.O of American Photocopy Inc. He built the company into a million dollar a year business the first year. From there it grew larger every year. He remained in that position until his retirement in 1995.
He was a member of the Lakewood Country Club for many years and was an avid golfer. In 2018, Lee moved to Alamosa, Colo., to be with his son, Adam. Lee enjoyed watching his westerns on TV and enjoyed all of his great-grandchildren.
Graveside Service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Alamosa Cemetery.
