ALAMOSA – Three girls golfers from the San Luis Valley have advanced to the Class 2A State Tournament after qualifying at the Class 2A Region 1 Tournament Monday at Hollydot Golf Course in Colorado City.
Two are from Alamosa as Taybor Wiedeman tied for 14th with a 96, and Kiara Gallegos tied for 18th with a 99.
Monte Vista’s Reagan Futrell was the final state qualifier as she finished in a tie for 11th place with a 94.
Alamosa finished in fifth place with 299. Aside from Wiedeman and Gallegos, Hallie Henry tied for 23rd with a 104, and Jayla Quintana was 37th with a 112.
Monte Vista was sixth with 303. The other Lady Pirates included Kiera Sanchez who tied for 23rd with a 104, Ellaree Rockey was 25th with a 105, and Destiny Pacheco was 27th with a 107.
Rye finished in first place with 253, and Salida was second with 255. Both qualified their four-person teams to state.
Salida’s Kyndra Johnson was the regional individual champion as she shot a five-over-par 76.
The Class 2A State Tournament will take place next Monday and Tuesday at the Pueblo Country Club.
