CONEJOS COUNTY — Some confusion has arisen over one of the Labor Day weekend events in the San Luis Valley, and organizers of a benefit for the CannaPower Educational Foundation are addressing misinformation.
Most importantly, the September 2 event, which will be held at El Rancho disc golf course on Conejos County Road 6, will be for those ages 21 and older and will NOT allow cannabis or alcohol consumption.
Carla Rodriguez, Diana Hubbard-Hall and Shanna Hobbs would like to apologize for any misinformation that has been circulated or heard by anyone contrary to the above. “We would like to inform everyone that the event is 21-plus and no on-site cannabis, no alcohol,” they said.

What will be enjoyed during the event on Sunday, Sept. 2, will be a fun disc golf tournament on an 18-hole course and live music featuring several bands and musicians including Michael Bruce, who played with Alice Cooper and whose group Texas Chainsaw Ballet will provide entertainment Sunday along with Maggie Rains and the Crooked Keys, Randall Rahn, G-Stylez, Ol Scratch, Epitomne, Irierebellion and American Defiance. Bruce will also be recording a live album on site.
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Tickets are $30 and may be purchased at the gate. The event may be accessed by turning from County Road 15 in Conejos County (northwest of Capulin) onto County Road 6. For more information contact Carla at 298-0050.
Participants will abide by local, state and federal laws, and law enforcement will patrol the event.
The event will provide education and raise funds through a disc golf tournament for CannaPower’s mission “to provide cannibinoid treatment funding sources and options for those with otherwise terminal or permanent health conditions.”
