ALAMOSA — The weather may have been a little chilly Thursday night outside of the Alamosa High School stadium, but the atmosphere enjoyed by grandparents, parents and kids at the annual St. Nick at the Bricks event was warm, cheerful and full of holiday spirit. And, just in case some people might have been a little cold, outdoor space heaters were scattered around the area that provided plenty of heat for those who needed it.
St. Nick at the Bricks has become an annual holiday tradition in Alamosa. Sponsored by the Alamosa Alumni Association along with Maroon Pride, AHS Student Council, Ef’s Restaurant and the 5 Star Riders Car Club, people gather together to enjoy a free bowl of posole, a handful of biscochitos (by master baker Nancy Ortiz), hot cocoa, candy canes and, for those who are interested, free photos of kids (and parents) with jolly Old St. Nicholas.
The Alamosa Alumni Association was also accepting donations to provide needed items, offer a little support and perhaps brighten the season for those who may be less fortunate.
As happens every year, people from all parts of Alamosa and the surrounding communities showed up at the event to enjoy friendship, generosity, and good will toward others.
