ALAMOSA – Society Hall, 400 Ross Ave., Alamosa, is presenting Roger Dawson and Friends for a CD release concert on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and are available online at www.societyhall.com or at the Green Spot, 711 State Ave., Alamosa. The concert will also stream on the Society Hall Facebook page and You-Tube channel.
Dawson is a long-time San Luis Valley musician who has been playing music around the region since the early 1970s, both as a solo player and with the bands Tumbleweed, Sneakers and Free Radicals. Roger also was the host of a long-time local open mic, helping many local musicians learn the ropes of playing their songs in front of the public for the first time.
His first love has always been the blues, as both a student of the tradition and a performer in it. Although known primarily as a bassist, Roger has also long been a practitioner of the blues slide guitar to accompany both the traditional blues songs and his soulful original songs.
Dawson has released three solo CDs over the years, as well as playing on a couple of the Tumbleweed releases and numerous other recordings by friends and other regional artists. He has assembled an all-star cast of fellow musicians to help him present “Cycle/Circle,” his latest collection of his original songs.
Joining him on stage for the Society Hall show will be Scott Swartz on guitar, John Stenger on keyboards, Rich Gallegos on saxophone and harmonics, Scott Russell on guitar, Paul Pearcy on drums, and Don Richmond on guitar and other instruments. And of course, the band will cut loose on a few covers and old favorites as well as presenting the songs from the CD.
The board of Society Hall, a 501c-3 non-profit organization, invites you to another wonderful musical evening with Roger Dawson and Friends on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Society Hall.
