ALAMOSA – After just two weeks of the 2025 track and field season, several athletes from the San Luis Valley are already listed in the MaxPreps rankings.
The Top 18 athletes in each event in Classes 5A, 4A, 3A, and 2A will qualify for their respective state tournaments in May. In Class 1A, the Top 9 in sprints and hurdles, the Top 10 in field events and the Top 12 in distances will advance.
Class 3A
Alamosa
The Alamosa High School track and field teams have 10 individuals and seven relay teams in the rankings.
Brayden Moeller is ranked in three events on the boys side. He is fifth in the 200-meter dash in 22.90 seconds, 14th in the 400 meters in 55.10 seconds and 15th in the 100 in 11.60.
Jeremiah DeLaCerda is mentioned in two events. He is eighth in the 1,600-meter run in 4:42.57, and 11th in the 800 in 2:06.5.
The remaining ranked Mean Moose boys include Cody Williams who is sixth in the 800 in 2:03.39, and Adlai Gardner who is 10th in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 44.15 seconds.
The Mean Moose are ranked in three relays. They are sixth in the 4x400, in 3:45.09, 11th in the 4x800 in 9:29.36, and 16th in the 4x100 in 47.54.
On the girls side, Elizabeth McQuitty is ranked high in two events. She is second in the 3,200 in 11:47.81, and fourth in the 1,600 in 5:26.84.
Kaylee Gonzales-Moore is ranked in three events. She is sixth in the 100 in 13.30, 10th in the 200 in 28.23, and 11th in the 400 in 1:05.65.
Four more Lady Mean Moose are ranked in one event. Timay Garcia is tied for 12th in the pole vault at an even six feet, Kailynn King is 15th in the 100 in 13.62, Brooklyn Boehm is 15th in the shot put at 28-8 ½, and Victoria Gifford, is 17th in the 800 in 2:41.51.
Four Alamosa girls relay teams are in the rankings. They are sixth in the 4x400 in 4:34.39, ninth in the 4x800 in 11:30.12, 12th in the 4x200 in 2:00.67 and 18th in the 4x100 in 58.10.
Class 2A
Center
Center is the only local Class 2A school to have athletes in the Top 18.
For the Viking boys, Angel Palma is seventh in the triple jump at 35-5, Derriq Thompson is 14th in the 300 hurdles in 52.37, and Buddy Wilson is 18th in the 400 in 58.50.
The Vikings are ranked in two boys relays. They are 18th in the 4x100 in 53.26, and 18th in the 4x200 in 1:52.28.
For the Lady Mustangs, Presley Wilson is fifth in the shot put at 30-7 and ninth in the discus at 85-1, Gizelle Meraz is 10th in the discus at 81-10, and Maya Swanson is 11th in the long jump at 14-0.
Center is ranked in two girls relays. It is eighth in the 4x200 in 2:03.79, and 18th in the 4x100 in 1:00.79.
This week
Alamosa will be in Arizona for the Chandler Rotary Invitational on Friday amd Saturday. Del Norte and Sangre de Cristo will open their seasons at the Larry Pickering Invitational at Dutch Clark Stadium in Pueblo.
